Hideaway House
Hideaway House is a relaxed, friendly Italian restaurant set in the middle of scenic Sedona. Unfortunately, our visit took place at night when it was dark, so we couldn’t enjoy the beautiful views! Hideaway House has three open-air patios from which patrons can enjoy the stunning red rock formations. Happily, we were still able to enjoy their wonderful food!
We chose to get the Roasted Vegetables and Polenta and the Treehouse Wings to start. Please note, even though the veggies are grilled, this is a COLD dish; everything is served chilled. This did not lessen our enjoyment of the yummy vegetables, ricotta cheese, goat cheese, and polenta drizzled with balsamic glaze. This impressive starter is served as an elaborately structured tower, and was fun to pick apart to eat. The wings come with either parmesan garlic, barbecue, or buffalo sauce. We picked the parmesan garlic wings but were able to get both barbecue and buffalo sauce on the side! The wings were very garlicky and crispy. To keep it healthy, there were nice, hefty sticks of carrots and veggies on the side to also dip in the ranch and blue cheese dressings.
Finally, we split the Chicken Pesto Pomodoro with penne pasta. The sauce was fantastic, especially with the tomatoes adding a nice freshness. The grilled chicken was conveniently cut into strips, and the penne pasta allowed for maximum sauce coating for the pasta. The focaccia bread served on the side was cheesy, soft, and chewy; perfect for dipping in the pasta sauce.
To go with our meal, we both got a warm, seasonal drink. Taylor picked the alpine vortex, which was hot cocoa laced with peppermint schnapps topped with whipped cream and crushed peppermint candy. Michelle chose hot spiced wine, which featured wine mulled with spices, hot apple cider, and a piece of citrus.
This restaurant was amazing, and we look forward to going back to enjoy more of their menu and hopefully the lovely scenery, as well!
