Bobby D's BBQ

On our recent trip to Jerome, we visited Bobby D’s BBQ for the first time. This smokehouse-style restaurant is located in the historic English Kitchen building, built in 1899, which boasts of being the oldest operating dining facility in the state of Arizona! Today, passersby are lured in to the establishment by the tantalizing smells from the Ole Hickory pit smoker outside the building.

We dined inside the restaurant, where there are booths, but there is outdoor seating on the deck, as well. For drinks, Michelle got an apple pie shot, and Taylor chose the fruity Barrios raspberry beer. The apple pie shot is a house-made infusion of apple cider, cinnamon, brown sugar, dark rum, topped with a healthy spritz of whipped cream. This was sweet, delicious, and definitely tasted like apple pie!

For our meals, Michelle picked the Smokin’ Sliders. This appetizer dish came with four toasted hawaiian rolls each with a different meat: sausage, bbq chicken, pulled pork, and brisket. It was served with bbq mayo, sauteed onions, and pickles on the side. The sausage looks a little like a burnt hockey puck in the photo - but never fear! It was not burnt - it was actually just the peppery end of a delicious, super flavorful and spicy sausage. The pulled pork and brisket were both really tender, and the chicken was also delicious. Taylor’s Arizona cheesesteak was a hoagie roll topped with delicious tender steak. A combination of sauteed onions, green chilies, and melted provolone cheese blanketed the steaks. The chilies added a nice kick to the traditional cheesesteak. The sandwich tasted fantastic. Taylor substituted fries for some thick and well fried onion rings. It’s going to be tough to return and want to order something different.

Finally, we had the banana cream pie for dessert, which is just a mason jar stuffed with banana pudding, fresh banana, nilla wafers, and overflowing with whipped cream.

The food at Bobby D’s BBQ was fantastic and we now plan to eat here every time we are in Jerome. Next time we’ll just make sure to check the times and get there well before closing.
