MEE Hmong Cuisine

Pagosa Springs has many great places to eat, but our favorite is easily MEE Hmong Cuisine. MEE Hmong Cuisine is an Asian restaurant that melds flavors and dishes from across southeast Asia where the Hmong people are from. Here they put their own delicious spin on popular dishes from Laos, Vietnam, and Thailand, among others.

MEE Hmong Cuisine is located next to US 160 on a small side street at the western edge of central Pagosa Springs. It’s easy to spot on the north side of the road since there isn’t anything around it.

One of the stars of the menu at MEE Hmong Cuisine is their take on several traditional teas. Michelle ordered the hibiscus tea which was a nice, light, floral, and fruity tea. Taylor loves Thai tea, so he got the Hmong ice tea which is their take on it. This iced tea was much less sweet than normal with a slight bitterness at the end similar to black tea.

For starters we got summer rolls and bangin buns. The summer rolls are refreshing veggie packed shrimp rolls with a sweet peanut butter based sauce. The bangin buns have crispy sweet shredded pork in a soft steamed bun with shredded carrots and cabbage in a creamy sauce on the side.

The bangin tacos are filled with amazingly crispy and sweet shredded pork topped with fresh onion, tomatoes, and sprouts. These were very similar to the bangin buns and were fantastic, but we would have ordered a different entree if we realized how similar they were at the time. The meatball curry was super creamy with a decent kick. The meatballs were moist and well-seasoned, and the large pieces of zucchini were nice and soft.

The food at MEE Hmong Cuisine was fantastic and is the best meal we had while in Pagosa Springs. We only wish we would have realized the banging buns and tacos were similar and could have swapped one out for another item. At least that now gives us more reason to swing by again for another wonderful meal.
