Roast Beef Ohno

Down a side street off Chou Dori and in the basement beneath a ninja cafe is Roast Beef Ohno. This restaurant specializes in creating wagyu roast beef mountains that are supposed to resemble Mount Fuji. It might look weird, but it is definitely worth checking out if you want to eat something unique.

To find Roast Beef Ohno we took a small side street at the south of Akihabara and found a door with a large nine-tailed fox, called kitsune, above the door. This is the entrance to the ninja cafe Sinobazu. The door leading to Roast Beef Ohno is directly to the right.

From the door we headed down a narrow set of stairs to the basement where Roast Beef Ohno is. We had plans to eat kushikatsu for dinner, but couldn’t pass up eating here and didn’t want to get too full. We were quickly seated and ordered the Japanese Wagyu Roast Beef Bowl Set to split.

Our order was brought out and it was glorious. A mountain of roast beef topped with a raw egg and a stream of mayonnaise down the side - all this sitting on a bed of rice. We weren’t sure how to approach eating it at first, but then we broke the yolk and let it spill over the sides. We stripped away the roast beef slice by delicious slice. We also had a bowl of cow tail soup with it , which was nice and light and a good accompaniment to roast beef.

Roast Beef Ohno was a great meal that we plan to get again the next time we visit Tokyo and Akihabara. It may seem weird initially to some, but it is delicious and worth trying out.
