Two Hands: Seoul Fresh Corn Dogs

Two Hands.jpg

While stopping by H Mart, an Asian food market in Mesa, we saw a very long line of people outside a shop in the nearby strip mall. After further investigation we saw everyone was at a Korean corn dog restaurant called Two Hands. With such a long line well after lunch we figured it had to be good, and we picked some up the following weekend. We were definitely not disappointed.

Two Hands is located on the southeast corner of Dobson and Main, in Mesa, and is next to H Mart. If you get there after 11 am when it opens, simply look for the line of people to find it. The restaurant is rather small and right now with the pandemic they only let 4 guests in at a time for ordering and pickups.

We arrived 15 minutes before Two Hands opened and there were 3 groups already waiting. By the time the shop had opened and our order was placed, the line had well over 20 people in it.

Since this was our first time visiting Two Hands we wanted to try everything. Like we sometimes tend to do, we ended up ordering too much, and ordered one of each corn dog. We couldn’t decide between the hot dog or cheese options, but fortunately they have a half and half version so you get the best of both worlds. We also wanted to try out the half cheddar and half mozzarella, so we ordered an extra potato corn dog. It definitely was too much food, but hey we wanted to try every option.

Even with being one of the first people in line, it still took 30 minutes to get our order. One lady made her order online before opening, and she still didn’t get her food till the same time we did. So be prepared to wait regardless. Taylor ordered a horchata slush to sip on while we waited. It was icy and sweet with plenty of cinnamon flavor, and was a nice cool treat to help pass the time.

The corn dogs came in a very sturdy takeout box, and each corn dog was secured to the box to prevent movement. This box did a great job keeping everything intact, and when we got home none of them had moved a bit and all still had their sauces drizzled all over.

We still had to get home and were worried the corn dogs would get soggy, but to our surprise they were still very crispy with a nice crunch. The cornbread coating is great. Inside each perfectly fried corn dog the breading is soft and chewy. The hot dog tastes great but we prefer the gooey mozzarella cheese.

The corn dogs basically come in two general varieties: sweet and spicy, with the classic being a bit of both. The big difference with each variety is what’s coating it and how sweet or spicy it is. The Classic is a mix of sweet and savory with a dusting of sugar on the outside. The Two Hands is covered in a slightly sweet seasoning and drizzled with ranch. The Crispy Rice is sweet and very crunchy. It is covered in tiny rice puffs that add an extra layer of crunch compared to the others. The Injeolmi is slightly sweet and less crunchy than the rest. The bean powder is a bit lighter and makes it a bit chewier. The Spicy is covered in hot Cheetos powder and drizzled with Two Hands spicy sauce. It has a good kick to it but is really good. The Potato is like a spiked flail, but potato cubes on a corn dog. The potatoes are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The corn dog is then sprinkled with hot Cheeto powder and has Two Hands dirty sauce. With the sprinkled Cheeto powder there is a slight kick to each bite.

Two Hands is a fantastic spot to get some unique and delicious corn dogs. Just be prepared to wait a bit for your food, but it is well worth the wait. We personally liked the Potato and Spicy corn dogs the best, but in all honesty they are all great. Next time we’ll get the dirty fries and try to put in an order online to try to skip some of the line.
