Forrest Gump Point

Just north of Monument Valley up US 163 is Forrest Gump Point. The spot doesn’t have a big sign or anything, so it can be easy to miss while driving. However, depending on the time of day it can be very easy to spot by the number of cars parked on the side of the road and the periodic person in the road.

We stopped at the point after getting some food at the Comb Ridge Eat and Drink. The view from the hill offers a gorgeous panoramic of Monument Valley, but the main draw is the scene from Forrest Gump. There have been other movies and even an album cover to use the same backdrop, however Forrest Gump was the most popular one to do so.

The popular thing to do is to stand in the middle of the road and get a picture. There is really only sporadic traffic on this section of the road (at least while we visited), but it’s still a little dangerous if you’re not paying enough attention.

Taylor braved the traffic and took a few pictures from the middle of the road. The view on the  road is a great one, but just be mindful of the traffic. You can take some nice photos from the side of the road, as well, but they won’t quite have the same iconic perspective as from the middle of the road.
